Title: 1.6 AEE Golf Vs Polo 1.6 AEE ..the same?

old dears engine gave up in the golf about 6 months ago, was going to put in an ABF that i had lying around but have decided thats too much of a mission, plenty of Polo 1.6 AEE's about on ebay , but not sure if the golf Gearbox would match up , anyone can confirm ?

what got me thinking they were different was the Chat on here

just got me a little  :laugh:

2 posts from the bottom , some Geezer points out the gearbox hole pattern is different on the polo, is what they are saying? or am i not reading it correct.

Seems strange, if both are AEE then they should swap over all ok.
