Title: Is there a problem with my DSG
Post by: davidepping on 15 October 2010, 09:19
I am wondering whether there is a problem with my DSG or is it just the way it works ?

When approaching speed bumps in 3rd gear (in auto mode) I slowed to go over the bump and noticed that the gear selector stated that the car was in 2nd gear but when I accelerated away there was a distinct pause while the car appeared to change gear from 3rd to 2nd although the dashboard readout stated it was already in 2nd. Can the readout state a different gear to that selected by the DSG ?

I also have a problem when turning off a main road onto a side road. It seems to take a long time for the car to change down the gears to allow me to accelerate away in 2nd or 3rd gear. I understand that DSG takes time to gear down but would have expected it to do so quicker.

I am not sure if the above are normal for DSG and you have to live with it or whether, for example, there are techniques to allow quicker cornering ?

Thanks for your help

this is kind of normal I think, dsg works best in straight lines and seems to work off the speed of the car and sometimes you can accelerate too quickly.........just use the paddles to correct it.

I have heard though that you can set the timings on the gear changes but not sure how it's done exactly?
