Darren, do I have the latest 6.1 maps with the speed cameras? Still have not used the Sat Nav.
But the sound with the sub-woofer is bloody marvellous!

Darren, in another thread eve mentions that for 2011 model year there's an RNS515 with full 7 digit postcode entry. Do you know how long that might take to filter through to you - if it's not too long I'd rather be patient and wait.

Alski: I am sure Evo made no mention of a RNS 515 on that thread or I am missing something. All he said was that a full 7 digit postcode would be available soon for the RNS 510* and, from what I understand, this is possible through a software/firmware upgrade.
I hope this is what transpires.

Basically the RNS510 will be staying there is the cheaper RNS310 nav and now the new RNS815 in the Touareg, there is no new software due for the RNS510 in the Touareg due to the unit update, but the software for the 815 will not work in the RNS510 so Apparently we will see a new firmware in week 47 and possible new maps around the same time, I don't know what will be on the f/w or maps but can safely say the 815 does have full vw post code searching. So we will have cross our fingers and toes and hope the new maps will do full p/c searching

Fitted my 3C8 bluetooth module this week and can highly recommend it.

The SMS stuff is a nice little feature: -

And it can even read it out: -

But this only works on the remote sim access profile enabled phones (so no the iPhone).

Plus if you have the original factory fitted rsap kit it will use the roof mounted aerial so reception is great too

Cheers Steve. I already have the Fiscon in and coded but could be tempted to sell it and move to that. I take it its the same coding?
Does the SMS automatically appear on the headunit the same way the "Who's calling" appears on the unit?

Yep you get a message on the RNS and in the highline saying one new message and the option to view or continue.

The coding for the CAN Gateway will be the same (enable 77 Telephone), the only thing you will need to check is if the bluetooth module is pre-coded correctly, which they normally are.

Thanks Darren for supplying me with the 3C8035730A BT kit.  Installed it last weekend and it works like a dream with my Samsung g600. However, after an autoscan with VCDS it found 10 faults.CAN gateway 5 faults and Telephone 5 faults probably down to incorrectly coded control modules. My codings are CAN-EDA87F06400612000003.Telephone-020000000000000000000000. Can you throw any light on the codings. It looks like the Telephone module is coded for a charging cradle.

Thanks Darren for the info to clear the fault codes on Telephone module 77 with my VW bt kit 3c8035730A,will give it a try shortly. However, just realized that I can only download the phone book in SIM/SIM+PHONE memory mode, the PHONE memory mode will not work. With over 200 entries in my phone book I get an incomplete download, I assume the BT phonebook only holds 50 entries.Any thoughts on this,I understood my Samsung g6oo was compatible.

Hi Darren and Steve, just thought I would update you on my previous post. After playing around it dawned on me that my SIM card contacts were being downloaded but no phone memory contacts, hence the warnings of "download incomplete" and also "unable to SYNC with phonebook".So I kept my phone memory contacts but copied them to SIM card, changed the BT kit memory to SIM ONLY and bingo, all my contacts were loaded and without any alerts.I can only assume that there is a compatibility issue with the phone memory as it is able to assign photo and music files to individual contacts. After purging my phonebook I ended up successfully downloading 157 contacts.

No prob mate!

1. The phone connected to the RNS 510 much quicker everytime I switch on the engine
2. No microphone on the A-pillar
3. I can use the voice button on the steering wheel
4. Nothing got miss on my phonebook
5. More info on the MFD

Fiscon is pretty good but for similar money, I know which system I rather have!

Headlining and A pillar trim has to be released but not removed. Darren did this perfectly with no damage. He is very precise with his work. Highly recommended.

I don't have the latest one which shows text messages. But it does everything else perfectly. Voice control etc
In short, I don't have this one.

Hi Darren    After playing around with the Telephone module coding, although I did not try every combination,I ended up with-

020000000100000000010000   This cleared all the CAN GATEWAY faults and left only 2 TELEPHONE faults-

1.Cellular Antenna    2.Control Module for Cellular Telephone

I'm quite happy to leave these unless some one else knows a different coding. Just one more thing, the mic button on the steering wheel
only enables voice control for the Telephone, where as the voice button on the RNS510 will enable voice control for Radio,Nav and
Telephone. Your thoughts on this would be much appreciated.

                 Thanks Rob.

You need to go into the module 16 Steering wheel and change the 5 to a 7 or if you have dsg then it needs to be an 8, this will enable push to talk(voice control) on the RNS510

This is the coding for that module mate so will give you some clear idea of what needs to be set, some of them I haven't got a clue.

the Telephone, although the voice button on the RNS510 will control radio, nav and telephone. The steering wheel coding is 0001802(dsg).

Hello Darren,

Sorry to be a pain (emailed you this morning - but noticed that you were logged on) just wondering if you have any more Bluetooth units left for sell and fitting?  my mate is placing an order on a bluetooth kit with his dealer tomorrow, was considering joining him - but would have to fit myself, would prob. screw it up... so would much prefer to get one from you and ask you to fit as well...
