Post by: mattjay50 on 12 October 2010, 22:18
could anyone tell me what each colour wire is on a standard stereo power block connector as per the mk3 16v, the wiring in the mk3 ive bought iseems to have been messed around with and when i plugged in a sony head unit the stereo turns on when the key is in the ignition but as soon as i turn the engine over it shuts off, any ideas?  cheers

not sure on colours but if they have been butchered around its best to just find out for yourself, just get a light up tester, ground the croc clip (theres a handy unpainted steel barr behind the slot for the head unit iirc) test each to find out which comes on without the key in the ignition, then test with the rest with the key in the ignition if you arent fitting new speaker cable its obviously gonna be quite hard to figure them out, btw earth is always the fattest cable lol

i dont personally use the iso blocks, they are a waste of time, on a older car they ahve been swapped around and changed up so many times nothing is as it left the vw plant i just solder the cars loom to the head units tails, hope this helps dude
