Title: Flashing temp light after start up mk2 16v

as is says its just flashing after start up and continues to flash....also the engine isnt running hot but i did burst a water pipe on the block today but when i replaced it still flashing??? help please........... :undecided:

isnt it coolant level, not temp that this measures ? sensor is probably knackered, quite common.

That is correct, it is a sensor for coolant level in the expansion tank.
Check that there is plenty of coolant in the expansion tank. If ok then just unplug the sensor, it is usually mounted on the side of the tank.

Yep thats sorted it many thanks....Just now need a new piece of coolant hose as it had melted a small hole in one(engine block) so out to the scrappers Monday
