Title: IPhone 4 and MDI
Post by: JamesR27 on 11 October 2010, 20:19
Hi, I am due an upgrade on my phone and was thinking about an iphone so can just plug it into the car for my music. Just wanted to make sure that it works ok with the MDI as my current generation 2 itouch seems to struggle with the artists list when I plug it in.

Just after anyone who uses one to let me know if they are compatible. I also have the new bluetooth phone in the car which works well with my current phone so it would be a 1 stop shop for music and bluetooth.

Apart from the message you get saying "this device is not compatible with iphone" or something to that effect. Everything  seems to work ok with playback and the phone also seems to charge. I'm using mine in a 3 week old GTI so VW don't seem to have updated the MDI to be approved for iPhone use, but it does seem to work OK.

Only problems i've noticed with mine is that sometimes the track info doesn't change when the song does. Also the lead for the mdi is to big to go through the apple supplied case.

The track not changing on the display is a common problem for some which VW are aware of.
