Point being that the previous owner looks like he could not give a fook about it. If the bodywork looks shabby then the engine will have been neglected really. Anyone can make the car look mint with a good polish etc but you would think if anyone had a 16v Anni it would be looked after. I and plenty on here lavish our 8v GTI's and there are thousands of the buggers. If I had a 16v Anni it would be treated like another kid

yeh i do agree,i actually treat my cars how they have been treated,if its clean fsh etc i would keep it upto date and replace anything that needs replacing, but like when i get a run about like the mk2 i have atm with multi coloured door and boot, not a straight panel on it and so on,i just tend to think, sod it,lol im actually trying to blow it up atm lol

dont really see anyones point to be honest, £800 for a 16v anni with 11months mot and 6 months tax, lowered suspension, porsche twists and twin hellas??? seems like good money to me....

The thing for me Mate is that I have seen 15 year old Rover 214's better looked after !!!! A car like that should be looked after. For a start every piece of plastic trim on the car looks a different colour and faded. I only ever use boot polish which costs 89p and lasts about a year. And mine is no 16v Anni but looks better than this. I could see past the "mods" and get it back to standard but like I said earlier if the outside ain't ooked after then the engine will be the same and bodged.

Who really gives a f**k if its a annie or not (except for thsoe that dont have owt else to worry about), they are not really worth sh!t anyhow, they sell for same as any other gti, and the 16v ones are not as rare as made out plus the seats make me feel sick.

still stand by my commet that this dont look too bad, seen a lot worse cars owned by some members on here, as somebody else pointed out, for that price this is a serious bargain.. mine looked about as neglected as that when i got it and id wage a bet that mine is now one of the cleanest most original ones on here...yeah its took some work and dedication to get it to my standard but the moral is, TLC goes a long way

yeh with the extras its worth it in bits easy.i once had a mk2 of this nutter who crashed it and then smashed the headlights with a hammer cus he was pissed off about scraping the wings, i bought it and 2 new wings, primered um and took it for a mot, cost me £220 all in! it passed mot,was class had so much fun beating cars that look respectable, even coughed blue flames on gear change!,lol,i was its 16th lucky owner,it had so much water inside(summer 07 was wet!) but i didnt care,ps i never managed to blow it up,i scraped it cus i got a vr,wish i used it till its death now, no1 asked for that story but i thought i would tell it,lol

If it does not matter if it's an Anni then why would it be a good buy for £800. That sort of cash could easily buy a very clean GTI. The Anni is the Anni and anyone who does not own one will try to de value them but fact is that the 16v Anni does hold good money and are usually very well looked after. To rest my case the previous post states that the car has been thrashed and I could see this from a small picture on E.Bay. You can just tell by looking at it.

Exactly my point Mate....you can tell by the pics that the owner could not give a fook about it. Not a sound investment IMO. If others think £800 for a thrashed and untidy motor is good then et them bid....after all a spit and polish will make it run well

How do you know your car aint been thrashed in its time tho..

i mean its a £8oo car, a bit of TLC would bring it to a decent standard then i bet it could easy be sold to somebody like you who thought it had been really well looked after..

the current owner obviously does not look after it like i or others may, but if he did what i said above then im sure you wouldnt be saying what you are..

just a thought for you all.. (their is worser cars on here, still stand by that

are you not listening to me dude

a sound buy for £8oo coz all this needs is a quick bit of TLC and it could be sold on to some loon like you who thinks a 16v annie is so rare and worth loads.. you could make a few hundered on it easy

Kells....why don't you buy it then ??  I have a very good idea that mine has not been thrashed because I owned the car up until two and a half years ago. At the time I paid a bit for it as it was completely standard with service history and was looked after with loads of paperwork and run absolutely spot on. I sold it for good money and when I bought it back after the two and a half years the mileage had not gained too much and the guy I bought it from had not used it for a while. So that's how I know mine to be worthy. Other's on here apart from yourself can spot a decent car as well but as said if you wanted to waste your hard earned cash on the Anni in question then that is your business. If I was able to afford a 16v Anni then I would want one that had been looked after and not just treated like every other car on the road.
I am also not missing your point....you say that the 16v Anni is not a sought after car....what planet are you on ??  This is one of the most desired Mark 3's available and if asked on here 90% would buy one if the chance arose.

Spot on..........posted whilst I was catching up.  1000 anni's made going by VW literature, 250 diesel's, 600 8valves and 150 16v's,  not rare enough for you?  Then try and get a 3 door without a sunroof!  Good hunting.

as for them been so rare, i dont think they are as rare as folk say or think, where are the numbers on each car and i also keep seeing them for sale, they dont fetch much money either, infact no more than any other GTI, id rather have a regular gti and do what iv done with mine, we are all different, who gives a toss anyhow, its only £8oo, could easy make this look half decent and those like you would be loving it

id also wage a bet on it that 90% of folk on this forum would not buy a mk 3 annie 16v if given the chance

If i had the chance to buy an Anniversary, it wouldn't be a Mk3  :lipsrsealed:

I can see both points here. The anniversaries are a basically a special edition, something different from the norm. Even though it's a mk3 it is part of the VW anniversary celebrations. With that said the car has had ALL exterior anni parts removed. the engine has been thrashed to peices, apparently. As a collectables/enthusiasts car, no it would not be a good purchase. Hence what Deano is trying to say.

On the other hand, as a decent run about for someone that wants a mk3. Who doesn't care about tags and names...it's a sweet little car. Even though it's an anniversay it is still a Mk3 and it's not very desirable. Sought after, yes.

kells has a valid point ... one days detail on that, and you can make a bit of profit. Especially if your known to look after cars ... my neighbours always see me cleaning mine/friends/families etc etc and know im into my cars, so if I were to buy that, clean it up, and sell it for £200 profit, and ask for a grand i'd get it ... im pretty sure.

PROBLEM IS. No body wants a MK3.

Think about it another way, in 15 years time when most mk3's have been scraped, Anni's and special editions will be worth something so in one way any Anni needs saving.

Thats what I was thinking, it will probably be worth more in the future with it being an anni than a standard GTI would.

will certainly be worth somethig to somebody, this car could easily be sorted, maybe not to show winning standard on the cheaP but certainly to a standard better than many iv seen on here.

she just needs a lil bit of love.. its half the fun

Kells you seriously need to wise up Man....I never said I owned mine from new. I said I owned the car fora couple of years then sold it. In that couple of years the car was well looked after as are all of my cars. Any old muppet can tell if their car has had a hard life after a couple of years of ownership. Mine has a big service history and plenty of paperwork to accompany it. Does yours not have the same.

PLEASE PLEASE tell me how yours is better than a 16v Anni because I need a good laugh. Take away your interior and yours is worth about 1200/1400 tops. Put your interior in with any deal and you lose money....simples. I am not b!tching about your motor but that is all Mark 3's fetch at the moment. Maybe in time prices will go up but at the moment 1200/1400 is the most anyone could expect to pull. No doubt I will be wrong and your car will be the best on here (again). You keep on how you have looked after it but we all do the same. Before you start comparing my car Buddy....I do not and have never claimed mine to be mint. It is what it is....a cheap runaround. I look after it and spend money on it but upto now I will at least break even if I decide to sell. My bodywork does have marks but my engine runs as sweet as a nut and the car is generally clean and tidy. I tend not to pretend mine is something it is not which is called reality is it not.

mines better than a 16v annie IMO, deffo would not swap mine for one, thats my choice,MINE and my opinion, MINE do not even like annies... whats so good about one..Hmmmmm

id be happy with 12oo  14oo for mine minus my rims and interior, im realistic and id sell it for about 1k, MJ interior retrims fetch silly silly money on the bay and on ED 38, more than what i payed for it and so do D9o rims. not been funny but its you that is in need to wise up fella and realise im not so stupid to think all this in my car makes it worth alot more as a whole!, i did the mods for me and not to make my car worth more or to piss you off bla bla bla and yeah mine is mint, dont give a flying f**k if you have a issue with that either, i spend hours cleaning it and getting it to how it is at present, you could eat your dinner off my engine its so clean same goes for the interior, stuff like the air vents etc are all super super clean, its just how i roll and the whole point of me posting was to basically say if i did own that red annie, with in no time it would look miles apart from what it does now and even yours....

wise up hahaha  funny guy,  thats you kid.... thinking a service book proves a car has had a easy life wahaha

I'm a kid.....I am not the one who thinks a standard 8v is better now or ever will be better than a 16v Anni.  You need to grow up a bit and learn the facts Mate.....16v Anni's 150 made 8v GTI's thousands if not millions made. Spot the difference.   As said many times before in this thread...a polish and clean on this and even an MJ interior and Porsch rims WOULD NOT make this run like a looked after car. Smell the coffee and realise the 16v Anni is THE most desirable Mark 3.  Now before this becomes a slanging match which  can't be arsed to argue with a fool I request that a Mod locks the thread.
