Does anyone know where I can get this part (circled) please? VW don't do them anymore, and I've tried every Breakers yard from here to China and Ebay with no luck.

The cars been off the road for 3 weeks now and has cost me a small fortune, this is the only bit I need to get her back on the road, and the Mrs talking to me again!!

Nice one mate, is it possible to send me a pic please to the number above, just so that I know its the right one (when I say 'I', I mean the mechanic who's doing the work) Apparantly there are 2 types, we keep finding the wrong type :cry:

This is the last thing that needs replacing after the fire, and so far its cost me the best part of £500 to replace everything (and the MOT is at the end of the month  :shocked:) and 3 weeks of the Mrs having no car  :lipsrsealed:

If it helps, its a '96 N reg 5 door 8v engine code = AGG.................. :sad:

what is that part for? Im assuing you mean the box with the 2 fuses in it? I noticed a while ago mine had 2 fuses in it, then when I sent it for a service it only had 1 when I got it back, never investigated it though :P

its the fan control module mate,(whatever that means) lol and heres a page with some on the bay mate,check part numbers are the same though

Now just have to work out which one I need, as the new loom thats been fitted obviously didn't come with a part number  :cry:

Still, can only go forward!! strange that the car won't start without this though!! :undecided:

no problem,im happy to help, and if you know what the looms out off then you could ask if some1 with that model could tell you the part number of their fan control mod,;) good luck sorting it mate!

there are more than 2! loads of em unfortunately. aircon ones are different, vr6 ones also different. if its just an 8v without a/c you can just remake your fan loom to bypass the thing, the only extra function it offers is rad fan after-run which you can do without. alternatively find a mk2 golf relay and wire that in.  if you dont want to chop the plug you could bridge the relavant wires with a short jumper wire taped into position, that would at least get the fan system working till you find another control unit
