Title: Anyone know how to get a copy of the workshop manual?
Post by: Snoopy on 09 October 2010, 19:02
Anyone know how to get a copy of the workshop manual? Rather than etka or elsa.

As it comes in handy if you have to take something tobits.

As an example from it.

They don't do them yet. I have ElsaWin and ETKA but they aren't a great deal of use. I decided to get VW Golf & Jetta Petrol & Diesel (04 - 07) 53 to 07 (http://www.haynes.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10001&storeId=10001&productId=42357&langId=-1). Its obviously for the Mk5 so it should cover parts for the Mk6. I asked them how come they don't make newer/current manuals they said its because its covered under VW warranty for 3 years so people don't want a manual they just take it back to the dealer.

As least I've got something to digest.

The latest version of ElsaWin I have is excellent, it shows how to dismantle or assemble any part of the MK6 Golf and any previous model..

I think the main problem is people don't know how to use it properly as it takes a bit of searching to find the good stuff.

Etka is superb as well, giving the part number of any Volkswagen model, the latest version also gives the prices.

Is ElsaWin an official product that can be bought or is it specifically for dealers that has been leaked out to the public?
It sounds ideal.
Excuse the ignorance.

ElsaWin 3.7 is the last one that I had of eBay back in January, I had the full 10 DVD version for £19 they normally throw in ETKA as a bonus disc. You can get ElsaWin 3.7 for a fiver as mike says but thats for ElsaWin with the specific data disc e.g. Audi, Seat, Skoda and VW. They don't say its ETKA say just say "Bonus Free Parts 7.2 Catalogue". The problem with ElsaWin is it doesn't update automatically as the dealers probably do you have to search eBay for newer data discs. The other problem is its not easy to use you don't just select 2010 Golf GTi and it shows you everything you have to enter the VIN number so it finds the model then you have to select the engine code, transmission code and final drive code. Then it gets some data of the web and because your not a dealer you don't get it.

I believe ETKA 7.2 is the last but you can download both of these from rapidshare, hotfile or Google it. Now ETKA 7.2 does update weekly. Now there are a few glitches with 7.2. With 7.0 you can search for VIN numbers 7.2 you can't unless you pay another £10 a month for this option. 7.0 has 1 icon to run it and update 7.2 has 2, 1 for the updates and 1 to run it also you can't run it either until you run the Harlock Emulator app. The problem with 7.0 is updates aren't available anymore.

So its your choice which you have?

For the Workshop Repair Guides in ElsaWin, which is all that is really useful, you don't need any data from the web, all is included.
All You enter is Your Sales Model, Engine No, Gearbox No and year of Manufacture, VIN Not required,

and all the procedures are then available.

But you shouldn't have to do that as all that data can be found from the VIN number if the program is that good.

I have to say I never found it a great chore making a selection from four drop down menus.

Its a small price to pay unless you want to pay the licence..

Well it won't find anything for me as you've suggested. I enter all the spec without the VIN number and the OK button still isn't enabled. As I've said its s**t.

Looks like a problem with your version, mine works fine for that data.

Are you using this option, as the rest don't work

Sorry if this is an old thread but its relevant.

I've just installed Vivid WorkshopData ATI v10.2 and it works great. Obviously they are manuals for 47 manufacturers but it cover my GTD & GTI 2008>
