My daughter wants the above im going to look at an 02 tomorrow can any one tell me what i should be looking out for and any none problems any help will be great thanks.
-
Your best bet is posting this in the Mk4 section
-
Boost Leaks - Look by the drivers side headlight for black oil, also in the wheel arch on the bottom of the side mount intercooler and on the top of the engine where the pipe enters the EGR valve (Exhaust Gas recirculation). The lugs on the VW coupling system can wear over time.
Clutch - Depending on age these can be a nightmare. Stick it in 4th doing 30 then accelerate. It should do so smoothly and without any judder. If it judders loads you man be looking at a new flywheel and they are not cheap.
Water Pump - Common on the MK4, make sure the water temperature stay at 90 and doesn't shoot up over 90.
Temperature Sensor - The water temperature should stay at 90. If it shoots down then up this will be your problem.
Other than that just take it for a drive and you should be able to tell if its a dud. They should be relatively smooth and have a nice kick to them depending on what model you go for.

Nice one will let you know how i get on its done 64000 miles..

Make sure it is what it is suppose to be lol.
I know a fair few that have been sold incorrectly, there should be a sticker under the boot carpet that states a Kw number. Heres what they mean
kW BHP LB/F Nm engine code
50 67 98 133 AGP AQM
66 90 154 210 AGR ALH
74 100 176 240 ATD AXR BEW
81 110 173 235 AHF ASV
85 115 228 310 AJM AUY
96 130 228 310 ASZ
110 150 235 320 ARL
Hope this helps
tdi 150 may suffer with major cam issues, the 130 is much less prone to it. I went for a gt tdi 130 on 46k for £5.7k
