I'm about to buy 16v mounts all round for my agu conversion however ive not long ago replaced my 8v items for new oem stuff.
So what's the difference between the 8v & 16v engine mounts? 16v stronger? can anyone recommend aftermarket upgrades ? as im guessing the price vs. OEM stuff aint too different
Thanks :smug:

There all the same mate.

Really? Excellent news!! lots of info on the net recommending 16v mounts with the conversion. so great, some money saved there.
My next question, VR6 clutch is recommend, is the OEM item good enough or aftermarket jobbies better? looking to go around 250hp now !
also are the 8v/ 16v flywheels the same i.e can i use my 8v flywheel on my agu lump with a VR6 clutch kit?
thanks

8v and 16v flywheels are different. The 1.8T's clutch can be uprated to a single mass flywheel using the G60 flywheel and VR6 clutch I think, there's plenty of info around the forum especially in the mk4 section. As far as I know for clutch quality, an OEM one will handle the standard 150hp with no problems, but if you're looking at 250hp you want something aftermarket. Sachs do one of the best clutches out there.

thanks mate, i will have a search around !

Yep and I still prefer a well sorted 8v unless it is a mk1.

Here we go again

So you prefer the 8v version unless its a car that only came as an 8v?
S.M.
P.s. Yes, I do know about the Oetinger 16v Mk.1s but they weren't exactly common or mainstream!

Missing the point, a mk1 suits the 16v on the other hand a mk3 I don't think does.

    At all of you.
16v suits people that drive the 16v way, 8v suits the people that drive the 8v way....I prefer 16v, I drive on the limiter every time I use my car, not all the time, but on a single 30 minute trip I probably redline it about 10 times. That suits me, it suits my driving style, where as the 8v would be fun all the way to 5500 rpm, the I'd stop enjoying it.

See what you've done now Alan??

Soooooooooooooooo Back on this again, sorry for the questions but i just need to confirm before i order me bits at the stealers!
:undecided:
So next week im fitting i.e basically bolting in my AGU lump and o2J box out of my Audi A3 ( pipe work & plumbing etc will follow) im pretty much there with my research but just need to confirm im correct.
I can use my 8v rear engine mount, but i need to order from the stealers a 2x MK3 16v gearbox mounts i.e the front mount by starter motor and rear mount at back corner of the gearbox making x3 mounts in total?
02a/02j have same casing but my current 020 is different and totally different mounts!
last Question. Does anyone know if the Audi A3 pedal box will fit my mk3 golf? as im going hydro clutch or should i just get mk3 16v pedal box?
Any help would be much appreciated thanks again
