Would also like to know this?

Is there a way to read it on board? Like how many times the light flashes in sequence ?

Best way is plug it in to vagcom
normally if abs light is on you have a single sensor out.
if more than one sensor is out your handbrake light will stay on

Vagcom lead and software off E.Bay for about a tenner. Plug it into laptop and you are away. Or buy a fault code reader for about twenty five quid and just plug it in.  Gives and re sets all fault code for you.
