Title: VAG COM
Post by: BanburyCo on 05 October 2010, 22:39
Quick question,

Car seems very sluggish and hasn't been long since service so is it worth getting OBDII cable and VAG COM or is it only necessary to get when engine warning light comes on?

Thanks

Vag Com cable will tell you many things without the engine warning light Mate. An invaluable piece of kit for any VW owner IMO

They do seem like a fair bit of trouble though as VAG COM doesn't like being used with after market cables and the VAGCOM that comes with it needs to be cracked but will share with you how after I have tested it in a minute

Cracking VAG-COM can be a pain unless you make a batch file to reiterate the registration details consstantly.A problem a lot of people have is when you go to clear dtc codes after a read it says it is not registered.(Even with sost of the cracks out there)
I can send people the batch file and details if required.

But if you like the software buy it.....and all that

I have my copy now saying try before you activate etc.. all the time.

I tried control module finder took about 20minutes but never showed anything in log apart from engine ?? and abs but nothing else was getting written away, is that how it should be?

yep, you need to setup a script to keep an eye on these files and re-copy them if they get deleted. the vbs i made also watches for vagcom.exe and closes itself after vagcom is shut down. using a vbs also means you dont have that ugly black dos window sat in the background.
