my golf is over 20 years old so should qualify for classic car insurance
and i have now got rid of my company car and will be using the golf (limited mileage max 5000)
plus will be putting the wife on there too
anyone know who is best to try for classic insurance??

Well HIC get my vote, i've just changed over from Direct line as they wanted another £120 a year if i added coiloivers.
HIC covered my MK2 GTI8v on a classic policy and limited mileage and were much cheaper than anyone else. They also don't object to modifications ie brakes, exhaust, suspension etc.
Direct line wouldn't cover me if i added a stainless exhaust as they said it would increase the performance!!!

cheers!
£120 extra for coilovers!!!
so wrong!!!

And that's why HIC keep getting recommended, i found the details from looking on here myself.
Thumbs up to the insurance compan y that know what their talking about.
In addition they dont need any no claims bonus because it's a classic policy and makes no difference so you can transfer it onto another car or it will remain valid for two years without having to be put against a vehicle.

I've been quoted £141 annum by Peter James Insurance on my soon to arrive 1990 Golf Gti 16v. Unlimited mileage too. They do only take 1990 and older. Have my gen 5 Celica with them too
