Title: Mk2 Front Dash Speakers
Post by: Peej1981 on 04 October 2010, 17:58
Hi,

I have recently bught myself a mk2 golf gti and want to know if i can get some better speakers for where the origanal ones sit. I dont really want to start to chop around the car and want to try and keep it neat and tidy inside. Does anywhere do the rite size speakers to fit in there but with really good sound. Also want to know if i would be able to mount some 6x9's in the back where the origanal speakers would sit, looking at the origanal ones they look like only 6x4?

Thanks

yes you can get some replacement speakers for the dash you need 3.5" coax's
look at hertx ecx-87's around £60 a pair
you can get cheaper but if thats all you have in the car then i'd spend the extra and get the hertz ones

Thanks for that, just thought as well that i will be putting a sub in the boot but nothing major just a decent 10" one, would those speakers be ok to go alongside a sub?

You might be better with components - put the mids in the doors and the tweeters either under the dash grilles or the back of the door mirror trim.

Sub in the boot all amped up.

Yeah i did think about doing this but i really dont want to start putting speakers in the door, does anyone know what the dimensions are of the rear speak holes on each side of the boot?

4 x 6 in the rear shelf supports.
