Went to open my drivers door today, but the central locking would not work.
The passengers side one works no problem still though.
With the drivers side lock, when I turn it left and right, there is no tension at all as well. Any ideas?

looks like ur gonna have to have a look inside the door, now i guess that is rather annoying thing to happen!

if its what i think it is, a similar thing happened to me. the spade that goes from the end of the lock barrel into the switch for the central locking has likely broken off. Dont go getting your bollocks in a twist though, its an easy fix.
first thing you need to do is take the handle off the door on the outside, and see if the spades still there

Will get my handle off tomorrow and have a look.
How much am I looking at for replacing it?
-
well, i got my replacement spade off of ebay for about a tenner, but your best bet is to see how much VW stealers do it for...they aint expensive, seemingly these bits were a common fault with MK3's so any replacement part will be an uprated version. If VW give you a decent price, you'd probably be aswell changing them both, its not a hard or time-consuming job

can get them from vag new for not alot. should be a little spring in the bottom of the door for when you fit the new rod

Haha thanks for that drawing. It does actually help a lot. Much better at drawing than I am to!
I will get my handle off this afternoon and have a look!! Hopefully it is just the spade and I will be able to get it fixed quickly.
