I've experienced this on all my past motors ranging from landrovers/landcruiser/passat to the golf which have excess of 65k miles..
what it is, is when you take your foot off the accelerator and then floor it - no smoothness or easing - i can definitley feel the what ever it is coming into action underneath with a delay before it begins driving the wheels. it doesn't happen when theres a smooth plant of the foot only when sudden plants or an on off succession of foot movement does this occur.. does not effect my driving at all but always wondered why this is, as i have never experienced this on new motors..
a) does anyone know what i'm going on about and b) can this what ever it is underneath be tightned or something so there's instant drive and no delay?

and it doesnt always happen right?
i read something somewhere recently that claimed it was due to a delay caused by the digifant system.. apparently it loops and checks stuff every 300 msecs or something... if you catch it at the wrong point it can cause lag..
on a valver or vr6 this can also be attributed to the 'only active under 25 mph' traction control sytem (aka EDL or EDS)
