Title: Securing battery
Post by: daugavpils on 02 October 2010, 14:29
Hi All,

My battery seem to slide pretty easily even when nut that holds it totally tight. Can it be secured by some strap?I searched for model specific straps in online shops but could not find anything.
This problem causes battery cable to come off all the time too with clamp tighened to the max. What can be done to keep it on?

Thanks a lot!

What battery are you using? if its correct width/length there should be no problems

i had this problem with the correct battery, i used two plastic clips in each side of the battery, they are usually the bits that you remove from each side on a new battery.

Hmm, never had a prob with the Golf battery location but have had issues with it on my Mini - batteries are so much smaller than they were in 1981! On that I ended up fabricating a new aluminium strap to hold it in. Not particularly difficult to do but just be very careful to make sure that anything you make cannot move and either short the battery or chafe on cables etc.
