Yeah defo ... GTi Hella rear lights are smoked as standard, i'd defo opt for those. Can easily pick up a set for no more than £30 delivered, just keep an eye out.

thaaaaaaankyou!! ooh another one, the front fogs & indicators, do i really NEED proper fogs as loadsa ppl r selling th dummy ones, OR am i better off just buyin clear indicators, and then the front bit will just b clear, would it pass mot with dummys in or? x
-
It will pass with the dummy ones. My old one did.
Front fogs aren't needed for an MOT. Just side lights and main/full beam headlights.
-
Be careful though as if the car is fitted with a light it must work! I know dummy ones won't have wiring or anything, but MOT testers can be reet cnuts.
-
Yeah that's what I was thinkin,I think I'm gonna forget the dummy ones, and just fit clear indicators so its all clear across the front, make it look a bit smoother, without those awful ginger bits! Haha x

Doesn't include Reverse lights though, nor the front fogs either. Mine went through in June without issue because they are not part of the test.

the dummy fogs/blanks are standard on all the lower models
GTIs and VR6s came with front fogs, maybe some others? but yea front fogs aren't an MOT requirement

My GTi didn't come with front fogs ... its 1996 aswell. Came with FK Smoked Indicators though. Must of obviously been changed ...
Either way, retro fitting fogs is quite straight forward if you fit it via a seperate switch.
