im curently running 195/50 15's with 80 mil clearance! does this mean 80mil springs will have me scraping the arches and be crap to drive, or will it be ok. will 60 be safer? i want to go really low as it looks like tractor, its a 1.4 btw looking for gti arches ect.
thanks

Before dropping your car I would suggest thinking about speed bumps, mine is dropped 40mm (or so I was told when I was sold the kit) But I struggle to get over speedbumps, and cause a lot of ques behind me while I am getting over them.
I would go for a 40mm drop, I personally think mine is actually a 60mm drop, so I would have thought that 40mm willl be more manageable

I lowered mine 35mm and it looks great. I bought an Apex lowering kit and did it myself which wasn't actually too hard- two people is best though (my bro helped)
For the moment i have 15" BBS spokes on and you cant fit your hand between the tyre and arch. It scrapes with two people in the back- more so over ramps etc.. The ride has definately improved- feels more sporty when it's just me, or me and the misses.. I wanted some space cos i'm assuming that when i put some 17's under the arches- that space should decrease and the wheels fit nice and snug under the arches..

17's will have the same tyre radis as 15's due to the profile, so there should not be any difference!
Or at least I would not think so?????
And I am only trying to help before I get any silly / sly comments.

i might be getting 17s and yes it should be closer to the arches but will still need lowering, i will consider 35-40 with 17s.

At the moment i can fit my whole hand sideways under the arches, kinda letin my car down :embarassed:
