Title: lambor sensors

Hi ive got a 16ver and i want to put a lamber sensor into my tsr 4 - 2 - 1 mainfold. I was wondering how far down the pipe to drill into, so i can weld the carrier nut into it. Ive done it ti a 3 door cosworth and i had to drill 4 inches down from the turbo.

Any help would be much appreciated.

I assume you havnt got a catalytic converter, but manufacturers put lambda sensors as close to the engine block as possible, to get them to heat up quicker, to protect the cat.
they are usually fitted at the top of the down pipe in most new cars, or at the bottom of the exh manifold.
They need to be pretty hot 2 function correctly, so just put it as close to the exhaust exit on the block as possible.

is this a 'lambda' sensor your talking about? they are normally on the bottom of the downpipe where the pipes turn into one. does that make sense?!

Yeah, sorry. meant to add that, you need to mount it after the collector, when the pipes join, not before. otherwise you will only be measuring the lambda levels in 1 or 2 cylinder. you need it to measure the combined gases.
