Title: Please help me with my car tax
Post by: Paul123 on 28 September 2010, 15:48
I bought an 03 plate GT TDI from a garage a few weeks back and now the tax is running out at the end of the month. I done some research online and I was expecting to pay £68.75 for 6 months or £125 for 12 months

I asked for a 6 month ticket at the post office and she said 112 quid I said no this is wrong it should be £68. I rung the DVLA and they said my car is an import and it has no co2 details so I have to pay the full wack basicly.

I find this very unfair as my friend who has the exactly the same car pays half what I will have to pay. Has anybody come across this before? can I get the log book changed?

tbh mate if its a import there is no way round this when you bought car did they tell you in was imported. it should be on bottom of v5 if not go back to garage where it was bought

I had no idea it was an import, I called the garage and he said he had no idea, I done a HPI check and that had no indication it was an import either

The only way you have an arguement is if the tax that was on it was at the lower rate not the full wack..

My car is a personal import i pay £235 a year for GTi 1.8t
