Title: Brake sizes required
Post by: Doddy01 on 28 September 2010, 11:24
Hi All Need to replace my Discs and pads all round on my GtTdi 130Bhp 02 Plate now before i take the wheels off thought i would see if anyone knew the actuall size.
front(vented) discs 5stud fitting iv seen 3 different types 288mm/256mm/280mm i think mine are 288 as when i put my reg number on certain sites its saying 288mm for performance discs but nothing for the standard..also gives me an option for pads with the sensor on
Also are the rear discs 232mm on solid discs or are they vented too
Any advice appreciated if not looks like i will be taking wheels off when i get in from work

280mm fronts vented.. 232mm rear solid disks.. you need the pads with the sensor in as it tells you when they are worn down so you dont have to keep checking..

Thought wrong then didn't you

130 and 150 TDI's had the 288mm brakes.  Rest of the range had the 280's  :nerd:

Well in that case the reply to the first answer will be 288mm front vented disks

Yeah front Discs are 288mm with pads having the sensor on them as Rhyso pointed out this is only on the 130/150bhp models ..
Rear are 232mm solid
Decided to go for miltex grooved discs on the front and just standard miltex on the rear with matching pads cost more but surpose cost is alot less than going into the back of another car after seeing some of the cheap stuff listed on ebay
