Title: RNS510
Post by: gizzywizzy on 27 September 2010, 22:19
Thanks to Darren I am now the proud owner of an RNS510 which I like to use to play CDs my question is why does the name of the track that is playing not come up on the head unit? mine just says track number is this correct?

If it is just a normal CD then that is all that is displayed,
If you play a CD with MP3s on it then the track, artist, album data will be displayed.

I think it depends on the information on the cd itself, some of mine do it although most of my tunes are on a memory stick now, have you tried many cd's?

Yes quite a few, guess I'll need to get a mem stick and use that instead.

You need to use CD's that have been burned at the factory or by yourself, with CD Text.
Sony CD's have CD Text on them and will display the information on the head unit.

Surprisingly good quality.... remeber to watch something relaxing, otherwise you may start driving like a complete nutter afterwards. Saying that I was watching 'The Soprano's' the other day which is hardly carming.

I disagree..... if it had full postcode on the sat nav (which is a joke for the money) it would be pretty damm perfect imo

Martin and Steve, I need Private lessons  from either one of you to learn how to use the damn thing properly. Have not used it as yet! Will pay by the hour in 'kind' or 'money' whichever you prefer.

BTW where are his Anthracite  'rocco wheels?
Have you seen them on his car?

Martin, you've gone quiet about your Interlagos Anthracite wheels.
You show me them and I'll show you my spanking new rear bumper!

I'm in two minds whether to keep the interlagos at the moment tbo. Although I fancy getting them re-finished in anthracite (as they may look great on my car) I'm worried this may make them difficult to sell on if I'm still not keen on them? Just not sure what to do. I wouldn't mind swapping them with someone for some black/huff detroits?

I understand your dilemma.
However, if you anthracite them, they might be more saleable. Anyway, you got them at such a good price, you'll easily re-coup your costs if you don't want them. You owe it to yourself to fit them in anthracite to your car. Unique in looks it will be then.

No worries Steve, I like my unit.  What problems do you have that you don't like it?

Gizzy I just find it a bit fiddily and the main grip it won't take a full postcode. I do love the dyn audio though sounds lovely , but it's very overpriced for what it is???  :undecided:

Yeah I guess you're right, it's a nice looker though and it's got me where I need to be every time so far, so that has to give it some brownie points

Don't worry people full post code is coming just having to wait till Vw release the next firmware update...the new RNS850 that is in the new Touareg has a new 8" screen seperate 60gb hdd and some fancy gadgets but its gui is the same has the RNS510 so I can see most of it coming out on a firmware and the next maps.

Glad you like the RNS Gizzy
