New around here so hello!!
I've got a MK4 GTI that I've had for about a month or so. First time VW owner and loving it.
I've got a standard radio/cassette with 6 cd changer in the boot.
I have a Kenwood kdc-bt40u head unit that I'm intending to install. Not the greatest ever but meets my needs with iphone connection and built in parrot bluetooth.
I'm assuming that actually fitting it isnt going to pose too many problems. Assume I just need to get the right tool to remove the existing stereo.
My main question is, will the CD changer work with my new head unit???
Any help gratefully received!!
Cheers

In a word no. The standard changer won't work with your Kenwood.
-
Is there any way that it can be made to work??
-
is your kenwood headunit cd changer compatable?
it would make sense to sell your vw headunit/changer and buy a kenwood cd changer thats compatable unless you want to keep it to change back to standard

You can buy modules so that both units talk to each other. But as above either replace the cd changer or have a cd headunit.

Use an ipod so much easier than all this old school changer nonsense :)

it is physically and electrically impossible to connect a standard vw changer to any aftermarket stereo
just buy a kenwood changer

Autoleads do adapters so you can run oem equipment with aftermarket.
At the end of the day it's just a signal. They've just got to both speak the same language.

read my last post
you cannot connect a factory changer to anything other than a factory fitted unit
you can connect for example a kenwood changer to a factory fitted stereo by using for example a connects2 adapter but thats all you can do

Well played lol. Yeah wrong way round.
