Title: VW Votex alarm, possibly the biggest failure in the world?
Post by: Bellend on 27 September 2010, 18:25
So got a MK4 to add to me list.

Got two keys, one works on a VERY VAST occasion and one doesn't. I programmed one of the keys for it before, doing some funky stuff with two keys and the door lock.

The drivers manual lock will lock the car and alarm it, it however just spins when you unlock it and it moves the pin a TINY amount and does nothing to the alarm.

It wouldn't stop going off when I was trying to sort it for it's MOT (getting in and out of the car) or when I turned the ignition on.

It does SWEET F-all in stopping the car starting, I assume the chip in the key bypasses it.

Now, I don't want the alarm, it's sh!t.

I just want to reprogram the keys and take the alarm out. Now I could cut the siren and horn for the alarm but the indicators are the problem.

Under the dash there is a box, I assume it's the CC box, there are two blocks of wires on it, either will kill the alarm if pulled but takes the central locking partially out with it?

It will lock on the CL (with key) on either door but not unlock........ It also stops the windows working as well obviously.

I ended up pulling a plug on again, I assume the CC box, sticking on the ignition and plugging it back in, the alarm is now off and the drivers door unlocked.

There is a little black plastic key thing (you know the thing you push in to stop alarms going off) and I can put that in the boot (where the socket is) and it doesn't do anything.

Any ideas at all? I don't care if the alarm doesn't work.

I have a free VAG-COM, can I reprogram the keys and disable the alarm?

Cheers.

If it's related to the topic, can you please explain why?

If not there's a PM button somewhere.
