Title: last check before buying coilovers
Post by: andyj775 on 26 September 2010, 18:51
right, coilovers are next on my list, and ive settled on the fk coilovers from venom motorsport. im also getting the venom anti roll bar so i can go low and im getting spacers all round too. my question really is how thick do the spacers have to be to safely clear the coilover adjustment rings on the fronts? i dont want to go too wide, just need to know a safe minimum if that makes any sense. thanks in advance

I have fk ak coilovers from there without the anti roll bar and have et35 anni alloys which clear the adjusters by just over a rizla pack width which is fine as this gap never changes....... Unless you get a flat tyre then it shreds it up as I found out with a Michelin pilot 3!!!! For peace of mind go for a hubcentric 5mm or if your tight like me then leave it!

thanks for the reply, so i take it youve taken the a.r.b. off completely then? apologies if ive got that wrong but id rather get the one with bigger hoops as im only lowered 40mm at the moment and its not far off the driveshaft already

No I would never take off the anti roll bar!!!! I want a rear one first as it can make a FWD car handle worse by upgrading the front ARB without doing more-so to the rear and the opposite on a RWD. On the roads I have to endure, it's really not practical to stroke the sump against the road. When I do buy the ARB's I'll either get Neuspeed, H&R or whiteline. Possibly even eibach.... as I've heard that the cheaper (jom, fk et al) are rubbish. I'd try it first and see how you get on......

You would never take the ARB off completely thats just silly lol.. As said above uprate the rear (well actually put one on) and then upgrade the front..
