so my aum engine running on 3 then clears when above 1000 revs, changed all coil packs £50 each!, changed spark plugs twice, gave her full service at vw, read on here about a ignition amplifier but cannot seem to find one on mine? :(
what feeds the coil packs on a 1.8t aum 2002
-
Checked the coil pack loom condition?
£50 each for coil packs, you were robbed!
-
AUM's have it all built into the coil packs there is no ignition amp. As said check the wiring:

just comes up cylinder 3 misfire detected, and p00300 sumthing like that
so is there a positive feed to the coil pack at all time? reason i want to know is i had full custom stainless steel exhaust on and it backfires like a b!tch but only when you turn the key on and off loads of times, if i was to make a simple on off kill switch i could make it pop bang spit flames on demand without having steering lock come on? thanks

you've probably destroyed a plug. Well done

plugs are fine, loom seems ok, and its been running on 3 cylinders on and off before i started the turn key backfire thing so its note to do with that,
so back to original question. anyone know?
