Title: URGENT HELP NEEDED! How to replace alternator on 1.8 8v cl

My alternator died and now i cant drive the car! iv just picked up a new alternator but i have no idea how to fit it! its a mk3 1.8cl iv had a quick look but no idea what to remove 1st could anybody give me a quick guide pleeease im in work at 6 and need to sort it  :sad:

i've got a 1.8 engine out in my garage will have a look for you in morning and post up ;) pretty sure there is a cable bolted on somewhere, but i won't try remembering off the top of my head because i know for a fact it will be wrong :D

there are 2 setups, is it the type with a separate tensioner wheel, or the one with a big spring under the alternator? also did you make sure the alt you bought is the same as the one on the car?
