getting ready to protect the golf for the winter months.
plans are:
wash 2bm born to be mild
clay
wash as above
lime prime
jetseal 109 x 2
collinite 476s x 2
then wash as and when and top up with red mist
how does this sound? all will be done by hand.
any steps you would add in or remove?

sounds like a good prep for the winter should set you up :)
I would say maybe repeat once every 6 wks? If you can be arsed or mayeb just one coat of each just as a top up
-
yeah i cover a fair few miles every month over some dirty roads so i'll be washing the dirt off as often as i can.
-
yeah not looking forward to the winder crud on teh roads only thing im going to be doing is protecting my wheels, the paint on my golf aint great and tbh tryin to detail it is a ball ache, the roof is so faded and flat you cant do f**k all with any glazes / sealants , well you can but its hard work!
so just going to be on poorboys duty!

looks good to me, as stink said to up every 6/8 weeks just to keep on top off it, i would only suggest topping the wax up as sealant does go over wax(new or old) so just top the wax up. if you have fairly good condition rims id suggest sealing them up aswell to help keep them protected and easier to keep clean.

been looking at fk1000p to replace the colly, anyon ehad any experience with this? does it have good sealing properties? on dw it looks like this could replace the jet seal with no need for a wax on top? or would i be best sticking with the jetseal and colly??
-
I have fk1000p its really good, but after trying it on a few cars I find it works best on sliver paint.. out of all the stuff ive used on my wheels its been by far the best.
-
fk1000 is very good but i wouldnt say it replaces 109 as 109 still has its place tbh, fk1000 is ideal for rims as it can withstand hi temperatures etc,its a very good sealant because of this though i would personally top it with a wax if using it on the body to bling it up a bit as i find with all sealants they lack the gloss you get from a carnauba wax.

cheers dh,
ordered some 109, colly 476 and some citrus bling (gonna dilute some for a qd and some for a quick wax).
No fk1000 anywhere in stock so that will be on my list for the future.
Will hopefully be cracking on with it this weekend weather permitting so i'll post up how i get on with it all.
