Hi Dinky and welcome to the forum/site.
There are a few of us here that also own cabrio's so you are in good company.
Have any modifications been done to your vehicle yet?

Hi,
hope to see your pics on here soon, the more of us here the better - Rich and I both took ours to whitenoise, and they looked good side by side, but if we could get a blue one in the frame too, it would look nice - very patriotic!

Nice motor, those wheels look fine - what are they? I'm looking to change mine. I'll get back to you on the oil front. my can is in my garage (500 miles away!!) its from a vw dealer, but they dont have a specific hydraulic oil for the roof, it may have been brake fluid - fairly thin but definatly a vw hydraulic fluid. cant be too hard to pin down

Hi!

They are lenso evo II, in blue obviously! 17" of lovely, shiney, chunky wheels ;D!Hope you find out about that oil cos it nearly got stuck at the weekend there, which would have meant me sleeping in it with a very large umberella!

NO........but I do support any English team in a European game. At the risk of getting loads of abuse I'm Liverpool and Portsmouth..........great to see them back in the Premiership.

Dinky, in your case use that first URL that I sent you that was too big for the 'personalized picture' section.

Good Luck.  :)

Hi Dinky,
sorry I have messed around with my site and as a result the URL's for your car pics have changed.
The smaller pic is now here:-

And the larger pic is now here:-

Hi!
Well thats a really hard question cos i don't really know. All i know is that on me logbook it says golf cabrio 1.8 and imported(from Germany in 2000),hence me logging onto this forum n asking u guys what us know about it. I even bought a Haynes manual but it didn't cover my car.Getting me insurance was a pain as well cos of the different models available so i ended up with Diamond n a description which simply said cabrio import, 1.8.I reckon its a gti cos its quite nippy(i hope). i'll just have to come to a show n us lot can tell me what us think!

If you have any ways of telling if it is a gti i could always have a look. u know by engine or whatever, only simply instrutions though cos i'm still learning my way around it! Its geet hard cos i want to play around abit, but with no manual or anything, i'm scared of damaging it!

Hello people new here, and don?t mean to offend you Dinky or anybody (high jacking or wrong part of forum), but really, really need some help.

I also have a golf cab (1989), which has been standing for the 4 years, so have finally decided to stop ignoring her and get her out to play.  But first I have discovered the fuel pump was seized solid and secondly somebody has helped themselves to my relays and she will not start. :(  I have looked in the Haynes manuals for MK1 & MK2 wiring diagrams and found them not to be much help. ???  I have also spoken to my local dealer who has explained to me that in 1989 the fuse box changed which doesn?t help matters.

What I need to know is where and what relays should I have (no E/W, C/L or P/H).  I think I?m missing a No 32 which controls the injection system and should go on the top line 2nd from the left.

What I?m desperate to get hold of is a photo of a fuse box for a pre 1989 and after 1989 model, so I can see just what I should have & where.

Once again any help is very appreciated and I hope I haven?t offended anyone but have looked through the site and thought this would be my best chance of getting some help (I?ve almost forgotten how nice it was to drive her and want to get out in it with the top down).

Many thanks

Andy

Getting a bit late in the year now........been a great summer.  ;D
Fusebox changed in 1982/3, however I'm not aware of it changing again. I'm sure Adams Sportline (J plate) has the the same fusebox as mine (1983). I'm wondering if your dealer is getting mixed up with the Mk2?
I'll take some photo's of my fuse box later today for you.

Welcome to the forum.

For starters Dinky she could be lowered, would look so much better and handle allot better....  Looks a bit hight, would get sick at that hight :-X  Mind you, cant lower it too much like Adam, I hear he cant take any passenger in the back due to thoes 17" Rims, lol, looks good though... ;)   Neet to get a tintop to get ultimate cornering ability though ;)

Hope it goes well, my mate at work has the same model, V nice, amazing the engine looks identical to mine and it years newer.....  VDub Power, I love it.... :) :D ;D

Rich, you're right -  other than my power hood fuse ;D, the fuse boxes are the same.
ref my lowering - I reckon the only reason its rubbing is due to a very slight buckle in the rear nearside rim,- (it only does it at speed when I hit a dip) resulting in a 5 mm spacer to stop it hitting the springs. I think when I get some new 17" for her, she should be fine,( Then I can remove the spring assisstors and drop it right down ;) )

Still mate, I think it would help if you got rid of some of that ICE in the boot, cant help with the weight prob...  I know what you do for a living, cant you get some special light weight sh*t from your bosses, they must have something a little lighter... ;) Its only making you look slower and the Cabby was a weight disadvantage anyway...

The only problem with getting it lowered though is the god damn speed humps which seem to b popping up all over the place!I'm just going to start small with the lights, exhaust etc, then see what happens! Not bothered too much about ice like, cos my singing voice is great?! ::)

I know what you mean with the ICE, but you need it in a cab - you can't hear diddly over 60 (apparently, never been that fast before ;) )
I think Dinky is on the right  track though - a cab is all about the image, I've done my time in some serious sportscars and bikes, and I know where I'd rather be sitting on a sunny day  8)

Its a standard Recaro interior, so I dont want to change it. but I've added a few aluminium touches, and white dials. and have the dash lit red anstead of green

Sorry I?ve just realised you?re on line Dinky, hope this doesn?t interrupt your conversation to much.

I know been one of the best summers for a while (gutted), but once I get it started sun, rain or snow I think I?ll go for a spin with hood down.   ;)

Thanks for such a quick response (Adam & Rich) & photos, just my luck for some reason mine is completely different apart from No19.  Adam, have you not got the two on their own at the very top of the box? ???

Perhaps the guy at the dealers did I?ll give them a call back tomorrow, but for once this one seemed to know what he was talking about.

Thanks

Andy
