Hi, I have seen a Y reg 1.6 estate for sale. Its for my girl friend and at £800 seems good value, but it does have 140k on the clock. Is this excessive? Or like the Mk3 will it just go on and on? Any pointers on what I should check for?

check the usual stuff like

condition of the car, service history, colour of oil, clean header tank, not smoking when warm, condition of interior,

mk4's can go for a longtime if well looked after.
