Title: Aircon problems continue
Post by: simonkit on 22 September 2010, 18:54

Just an update for anyone suffering the same issue as my MK V GTI - aircon has been taking 10 minutes at least to start after pressing the button. Originally dealer said it needed re-gassing, had it done and no difference, last time they thought it might be the pressure sensor but then decided it wasn't - now it's in for an overnighter and the compressor is to be replaced, I'll post an update when I get it back !!

First VW I've owned and the the first car I've had to take back 4 times for warranty work   At least its nothing serious though

Aircon compressor failure is a known problem. How old is your car?

58 plate, it had the problem when I bought it in January this year - luckily with the weather being pretty cr*p it hasn't been much of an issue, no aircon isn't great with those leather seats though

I'm glad to report that after leaving the car with the dealer for a couple of days the aircon is now working perfectly - replacement compressor sorted it. Looking at the number of other VW owners who have had the same problem there's obviously a bit of a problem with the compressor - I just hope the one they've fitted is an "upgrade" to the original so it doesn't happen again !!
