Well Soon as I know the car is tuning over well and the engine is sound.
I thought about Ging up the 16V.
Two methods:
Gasket stacking
Or complete rebuild of piston head?
Parts needed?
Scriocco manifold with right handed inlet? Need
Charger Bracket and tensioner Got
Short Rallye PAS brackets Got
Charger Got
ECU Managment Still TBC
Intercooler (MERC)
G60 RAD Got
what else?
Anyone got pictures of the alternator set up (mounting) as traditionally its been placed behind the manifold instead of the front for space?
Thoughts about the best way forward on a debatable project?

Don't get a G. Get a more modern charger off either a Merc or a Mini Cooper S (depending on how much you're gunning for).
Fab the brackets up, get some management on it and go that way.
(see that - that's 6 months of spare time summarised in one line).

Haaaa longer maybe mate!
I was only going to use the spare charger as it was lying around but BBM with lyschom was proberly the right way to go even though screw chargers get hotter than a G

G60 management with appropriate chip from SNS.

small alternator from a vr6 or something like a daihatsu hi-jet or similar. Mounted on the g60 bracket where the A/C pump would be and take a hammer to your front cross member.
i wouldnt be too keen about hanging a alternator over a scorching hot exhaust manifold personally.
i'd also get a ghetto fab'd standard 16v inlet as i couldnt face the tax on a scirocco one, or lop a runner off of an I5 20vt inlet manifold and weld up.

if your 1.8 stuff stacking gaskets get 4 out of 5 audi s2 pistons can normaly be had in servicable condition for less than £150 (often with rods ) then you has the proper pistons for the job
the rocco manifold is actualy cast from an alloy that contains significant traces of unobtanium id get a ethr get a std kr manifold or an abf one and flip it, or get a 1.8 t inlet manifold and have a 16v flange welded on
also you need a fuel rail and injectors and appropeate TB for manifold with a TPS
