Title: service light
Post by: postie on 21 September 2010, 11:10
car is a tdi 130 mk4
can any one tell me if the service light comes on with all the other warning lights when you turn the car on. as i have not seen it come on with the others.
as i would like to know the bulb is not blown and when it does comes on will it be in the same panel as the trip details or some where else on the clocks.

also which engine oil should go in it as on the last oil change it does not say if it has the long or short interval oil change which i think is 20k or 10k miles.
as when i got the car i was told by the dealer to wait as the car will tell me when its want another service as the last service was 15k ago, do you think i should wait or have it serviced now?

Mine is due at the moment and it comes up with 'OIL' for a short time following start up below the odometer in place of the trip mileage.

Misses has taken the car out (with most of the NSR rear door in bits....another post ) so I can't double check that but I'm fairly certain that is right. I'll check when she gets back shortly.

Same as mine albeit within the middle computer screen (51 plate car) - it starts a countdown from approx 2000 miles until it wants an oil change.  There was no warning light as such

Mine says service due in and counts down then it just says service now in the dash computer thingy. Nothing about oil though.

Maybe we got different clocks? and different clocks have different ways of highlighting service time?

Mine is a 1999 model so I expect it is different to the newer models.

Probably just depends on the clocks
