Title: Thinking of buying a mk4 golf 1.8 turbo..help
Post by: xr4x4 on 16 September 2010, 21:42
hello,

sorry if this question gets asked alot but i looked and couldnt fiind a firm answer.

i noticed that most models out there have the 150 bhp engine, which is a pity as the leons with the 180bhp seem quite common.

question is, i see that the 150 models can be remaped to 180/200, and the 180 to 220 ish, is this a firm rule? ie the 150 models cant be remaped to 220?

i want to tune it, so whats the best one to get?

i little more info on the difference on the models would be good.

cheers.

paul.

Not sure on the golfs as the anniversarys have the k03s ( turbo that enables a remap to 220bhpish with the right mods! about 210bhp with no mods.) but the audi a3 1.8t 150bhp, some of them from 2001 have the k03s fitted but still have 150bhp. but if you want 220bhp you would need a k03s turbo basically, which in a golf mk4, i think only the anniversary has.

Afaik any mk4 golf 2001 onwards (Aum engine) are fitted with a Ko3s turbo and can reach 200+ bhp easy.. older AGU engines were fitted with the Ko3 and will map to about 180?

Get a AUM

k03 190 with no mods

k03s 215 with no mods

Aum has k03s standard.. leon and TT iirc have the k04 fitted standard.. all older engine mk4 golfs have k03 turbo like agu etc..

it would be a straight swap but you'd need a AUM turbo intake pipe and then a remap for it to make any difference.

so with a totally standard aum and a remap i could theoretically get over 200bhp?

how much for a remap?
