right been spending loads on my car and got new lower arms and fitted powerflex bushes into them and ever since i get a bang when i brake, check all engine mounts and nothing wrong but i change the dog bone mount to power flex and now the car vibrates but i just think thats to do with the powerflex dog bone mount.
the thing i want to no is where and what could this be banging( on the left or middle of the car)
plus is it normally for the vibrate?
-
just when you brake? have to be bit more specific
-
yes sorry it is only when i brake and does not do it all the time but most of the time
-
are you running standard suspension? could be a knackered shock

no its lowerd 60mm but i did check and thats all fine
-
are the pads tight against the disc? could be a sticky caliper, but then again it could be loads of thing, have you inspected the brakes recently?
-
if you do find out what this is let me know coz mine does the same and its driving me mental
-
Mine used to do it. So replaced discs and pads up front and it sorted the problem. Check the pads..
-
mine does that front bushes ....
-
right had a good look friday night and change the drop links as i have fitted powerflex bushes into them and today i drove up to my dads like 1 hour drive there and same back and only felt it 3 times, but now its back soooo thinking what is it?
you change the brakes and it worked?
-
force the brake piston back, then apply the brakes, do this a few times and see if it cures it.
no need to remove caliper, just force the pads onto it using a lever through the hole in caliper
-
ok i will try that monday and let you no how i get on
thanks
-
Does it do it when you accelerate hard aswell?
If so check tightness of rear wishbone arm bolts and subframe bolts.
-
what nm tightness should the rear arms bolts and sub frames be?
-
Don't know as havnt got software on this laptop.
Use a crackbar and youll need 18mm and 21mm socket. Make sure theyre touch tight with that for a start. Don't want to be driving with them loose.
-
kool, think there tight but will check again
-
checked and everythings tight but still mkaing bang sound when i brake plus some times when i go over a bump

not your exhaust? hows your dog bone mount?
-

I get a noise like a knocking sound when i move off after the cars been sitting for a while like in the mornings leaving for work, reversing out driveway then up a small hill just out my street i hear this noise and also after getting in the car after work too i get this noise.. It seems like its comming from straight down the middle? near the front passenger seat. Does anyone know this sort of thing? My mate in Kwik Fit said it might be down to my CAT ? its the same cat since the car was originally made. only 1 prev owner.
-
Forum guessing has hit a full stop.
Its time to jack car up and get the pry bar out and see if theres play in anything.
-
Mate if something had a bit of play i wudnt know wether it was meant to or not haha im clueless wen it comes to car mechanics lol
-
then get it into a garage, you say your exhaust is fine but have you checked the exhaust mount after the cat? its common for the welds to give
-
I'm getting a milltek next month so they are gona have a look while its up mate so we'll see
-
Where does it sound like its coming from? Front / middle / back / which side etc?
Sure its not a can of WD40 next to the Tyre in the bootwell?
-
found it, it was my anti-roll bar banging on the subframe and now its all fine thanks for helping me out people
