how do you make mk2 16v front brakes fit a mk1 gti, are mk1 1.6 hubs smaller than mk1 1.8 hubs.
-
I always thought the hubs were same size but don't quote me on that! The 16V brakes should be straight swap over to MK1. Only issue if you are using master cylinder and servo is that the 16V unit only has 3 outlets to the MK1's 4 but you can buy a T-piece from GSF

The hubs on a 256mm MK2 16V are completely different to the MK1 hubs and as such the caliper carrier wont bolt up the your hub.
What you need are a set of 256mm discs and pads, and a pair of hopefully rebuilt calipers.
Then what you need is the caliper carrier from an audi, I think the early coupe, 90, Quattro etc have these and this takes the 256mm caliper and yet bolts up to your original MK1 hub.
also all MK1 hubs are the same regardless of whether or not the car is a 1.6 or 1.8

If you have a mk2 16v breaking can you swap the hubs and all over?

As ridgers said, mk2 hubs wont fit a mk1.
