well had my car in the other day at the garage and he said it was a bush on the wishbone making all the noise. Problem is the noise sounds really loud and awful. When I get underneath the car i decided id have a good look and see, hmmm the bush looks alright to me. However when i rotate the driverside driveshaft with my hands it sounds like something is loose inside. In fact it sounds like a whole load of marbles are in there or something. Main noise coming from the inner CV and perhaps inside the bit that it connects to. What the hell could this be? I told the mechanic to check the inner CV because I htought it was that. When I went to pick the car up he said the inner CV was fine and that they should have a bit of play in them. The question is should they rattle when turned. Please help because this is really upsetting me. Don't know if I'm gonna take the car in to have the so called wishbone bush done on tuesday now because I think the guys talking crap. Also he charged me thirty quid for the proveledge of having a look.
please help

the CV joints do basically contain a load of marbles!! check the condition of the inner and outer cv's boots if they are split then the cv grease leaks out and the joints become dry and noisey!!
a cheap fix would be to replace the boots and regrease the joints then see does that quieten it down.
inner CV joints dont usually fail. its the outers that go

cheers mate, none of the boots are split and the noise is coming from the inner cv area. when i squeeze them there seems to be lots of grease in there

then get the inner cv changed, they aint that expensive an item

thx i might have to do that but not sure if it is the driveshaft now. I had it in at vw in edinburgh and they said as far as they could see there was nothing wrong with it. Of course the noise has become intermittent now and only seems to do it when im in the car. It will kind of start as a tiny tapping noise and then five minutes later it will get louder ant turn to a clonk type noise, its weird.
