Look at this thread link below, myself and Steve30 have been raving about Chemical Guys Jetseal109

http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=166389.0

Im new to using the Jetseal109, and it has made a massive difference to the look of my car, I will never be without it. See http://www.waxamomo.co.uk/productcart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=78&idcategory=8 - best buy of the year for me

Currently I don't use a Glaze but i would certainly say it would help get that wet-look finish.

I'm sure the Pro's will be along soon to offer their experiences

sounds ok to me, you dont have to use a glaze as a rule but it does enhance the finish after polishing and it also aids bonding for the wax,

sealants are good to have tbh they've got very good uv protection, they have very good durabilty but lack in terms of gloss, they leave a nice glassy shine on silvers/light coloured cars, and are very good for protecting non clearcote paints ie mk2 golfs/polo's

Oh forgot to add its a indigo blue (pearl?) mk4

i reckon i might get some jet seal, but was more keen on the extra shine tbh

seems like a glaze will be needed

bit new to this sorry for all the noobness

No problem mucker, i'm in a very similar position! - I've found that the Jetseal has given me extra shine, look on the thread entitled "Mk5 GTI - First Detail" and look on the second page - that's my car after Jetseal and some wax. I haven't changed waxes, just added 2 coats of jetseal after polishing and before waxing and it is now really bright red and looks great!

If looking for a good glaze, have a look at Poorboy's Black Hole or Diamond White, both are fantastic products. As for Jetseal, it's a great product.

well i've arranged to have it machine polished as i dont fancy doing it myself - so i've a week or so to mull it over, but i'm quite keen on a glaze, mainly as i'm cheap and dont wanna spend 25 quid on something i don't need - i may get a cheaper jetseal mtec or something? or is it really worth paying the extra money, as for roughly the same price i can get glaze and cheap sealant or just js109? thats the quandry

is the megs deep crystal worth using? as i've used when i polished the car and was really impressed with the shine and depth of it, is poorboy/anyothers that much better?

should i bother using the stage one of the megs dc system if its been machine polished.

And i should clay and wash it before i let them machine polish it? i guess so

if they are just machine polishing it then yes you do need to clay. and you wont need your megs stuff for while once they've polished it.

glaze will offer nothing in terms of protection its purely a gloss enhancer, and gives the paint a final cleanse before you apply sealants or waxes.though as i said before it isnt essential.

waxes are nicer on darker coloured cars and sealants are better on non clearcote finishes, silvers, whites, lighter colours etc etc.

list above is fine mate just minus the polish? as you are machining which is the polishing covered.

dont worry about the questions mate its fine and thats what this forums for dude
if your car has a clearcote it generally doesnt need both but using both sealant and wax wont do any harm at all.

yeah i thought the machine polish might of covered the polishing, just ordered some poorboys blackhole, and chemical guys wet look mirror instead of jetseal 109 - i dont clean the car often enough to warrant the extra money tbh

just hope the weather holds out for the weekend

blackhole was a good choice but wet look mirror over 109 is a bad choice im afraid, understand about the budget side of things but getting something like 109 will last you a very long time as its durable protection is good. upto you though mate.

well bit late on the wet look, its ordered  :lipsrsealed:

will wet look clash with the black hole? or is it just that 109 is that much better? i'll probably order 109 when i do my next big order, spend enough in the last 2 weeks on products

Post by: Dan J on 14 September 2010, 12:48
no probs, no wet look wont clash with blackhole, 109 is just much better protection wise but if your using a good quality wax as your lsp then it will be fine

cheers mate, yeah i was gonna stump up for the more  expensive products but tbh, i only clean the car "properly" one or twice a year with just soapy washes inbetween. and they're not that regular

i might invest in some fancier products after i've finished with this lot, we'll see what i make of the products.

But i'll be hollering for some advice when i get round to sorting the interior out, but thats gonna be expensive as i need a wetvac, products and a better vaccum or one that i wont get my nuts broken for using on the car  :lipsrsealed:

good call, theres definatly no point in spending out on loads of gear you wont use anytime soon, you will get the bug though trust me,it wont be long.

interiors are fairly straight foward, can be a bit fiddly depending on the car. i hate doing interiors but i have been doing them for 16yrs now and im sick of them.

well been calling in some favours and now have use of a wetvac - cheers dippy

any tips on cleaning the headlining?
Title: Re: have i got enough stuff - do i need/want any more

under any circumstances do not over soak the lining or it will sag.

be prepared to get wet for starters, if its really manky pre mist the lining with neat or strong mix of the shampoo your using on the fabric or g101 diluted, you only need to mist it not soak it, let it dwell for 5mins or so, then spray lightly with the machine with the extraction switched on, split your lining into 4/6 sections and work in those sections, also overlap your sections.
basically spray and suck out with the hoover at the same time, be carefull not to be too vigorous when doing this as the lining could rip/tear,
when your completely happy you've removed everything keep going over it with the hoover a few times to make sure you remove as much moisture as possible.
then close all your doors/windows etc and switch the engine on and turn your blowers up on full heat and leave it like that till its fully dry.
