Ferrari 348ts in the garage for fair-weather fun
Now you're just showing off
-
LOL - I thought for ages about what I should type without trying to sound like a smug tw4t, but no matter what I typed, it sounded all the same!!
-
348s arent that expensive, and i still think they have an ageless look about them.
ferraris are only expensive to run if you run them every day - then they will bite your hand off. however, if you do low mileage you can keep the costs down to around 4-5k a year i would of thought.
-
4-5k is still a lot of money tho!
-

Wow that looks fantastic, great job!
Thanks for sharing

@Cossiegaz82, that’s fantastic for two and a half months graft - from shell to finished car.
Always had a soft spot for 1980’s fast Fords and owned a few warm-ish ones (XR3 and XR3i’s), but unfortunately, I never had a Cosworth.

Cheers mate, I picked the shell up and left it my garage while I stripped my old one so it was a couple of months sitting doing nothing. Finally got round to getting it to the body shop to have the underneath painted, the day after I got back from dropping it off (it was bloody miles away!), I hear the dreaded words 'I'm pregnant!' so time was a bit of an issue! I started building it the day after getting it back, if I wasn't in my van at work, I was in the garage beavering away! I'd have liked to have taken a bit more time but hey ho! Luckily I'm a mechanic by trade and been playing with Cossie's for donkeys years so that helped! Lol!
The engine is currently in my dining room (pretty good place to keep it I think! Lol!) after I melted no.4 piston due to an engine fault (I didn't build the engine, wish I bloody well had now!). Never mind, it'll be back better and faster!
I do like an old skool Ford, something about them! Can't believe what they and most other old skool cars are going for these days!

Here is a build that I did in 2004, pardon the quality of the photos, a bit of nostalgia here, and if you are a car nut here is where it began for me. We all remember the movie Smokey and the Bandit, one day I vowed to own one of these cars and in 2004 I managed to find one in disrepair ( not the T Top though).
It was owned by an old couple in South Africa who had it from brand new and brought it with them from New York. Sadly the couple repainted the car (God knows why).
The car originally had a 6.6 Ltr Turbo motor but that had long since expired, so I replaced it with a Chevy 350, 5.7 LTR V8 with some major modifications. Balanced and cut crank, lighter flywheel, forged weiseco pistons, stage 2 cams, lighter con rods, Edlebrock intake manifold, Edlebrock 750Cfm 4 barrel downdraught carb, and gas flowed head which resulted in 650 BHP. I fitted it with a 350 Turbo 3 speed box and torque convertor, it was a beast ! We also retrofitted Brembo 4 pot brakes to the front.
I had to buy the full detail kit with the Flaming phoenix and all the body stripes, not an easy task and not cheap either.
Here is my former 1980 V8 Trans Am.

I hope you guy's enjoyed, it was a labour of love for me, I did all the painting and decal work, the mechanical work was carried out by a garage.

Good effort Jason. When you say 'former', what happened to it?

I sold it when I moved to the UK mate, also owned this but didn't get the chance to rebuild it so that went too.
