Finally after fitting new turbo, clutch, flywheel, water pump, cambelt and thermostat the golf is running again. Jus been for a drive it seems to be ok, time will tell. Soon as my bank account recovers it's getting mapped, it's a long way off the pug gti-6 it's replacing (which someone kindly wrote off for me a few weeks ago) but I've heard how the map transforms them.

Phew, sounds expensive so far :undecided:
Have fun. Enjoy!

Yep is a bit, bought it off my cousin after he blew the turbo but thought while I was there I would do the rest. Glad I did the clutch and flywheel, the old one was jus startin to form some small cracks. Now replaced with the vr6 conversion.

you should be used to paying for reapirs if your coming from a 306 tho, ive bought 2 of them in the past to try and save money and ended up spending a fortune on keeping them on the road, lol

Yeah I'm definately used to payin for reapairs. Put a hole in the block on tht one lol.

Not really sure. Was givin it a bit of stick and jus got really noisy and lost alot of power so jus drove it as far as I could get it then there was a bang and a massive cloud of black smoke and tht was the end of it. Was pourin oil on the road and Found a hole about an inch and a half round in the front of the block. Guessing it was perhaps a rod or summit never got round to checking it out jus swapped the engine. New lump was only 150 quid coz it hadn't been run so was unknown but luckily it was sweet.
