Remember the post back in April 10 "Golf GTI MK6 Black Stolen off my drive Gutted"

Congratulations. Looks great.
Hope they did a good repair and you are happy.
May I suggest you install a Tracker.

Well I would have liked to say yes. However....
When the car was delivered back, although it had been valetted (ha ha) it was dirty and upon closer inspection, the bonnet has a number of stone chips. The carpets had fag burns in them and the matts were missing!! To add insult to injury, when I started cleaning out the car, the bodywork company and police had failed to find stuff left by the theives! I found SD cards and an Indian bank note in the rear seat pocket!! Oh and did I mention the 6 ripped CD's in the CD changer!
The car needed the bumpers re-spraying, new alloys, all of which was OK. However the lockset needed changing and VW made a right old hash of this (now sorted thank god). Factory back order took 6 weeks to arrive and were broken (had to be re-ordered - again!).
So as you can guess, for a car ordered Sept 09, by July 10, I was just glad to have got the car back!

Are you happy and the car has the same feel. As mental wise you will imo not feel the same about this car anymore. I just could not keep it if it was me.
-
God that's a tough question. Shortly after it was nicked, it didn't want it back. when it came back I got so paranoid about having the car. It takes ages for me to get to sleep each night. I hear EVERYTHING!! The keys go with me everywhere and the house alarm goes on every night.
That said, I LOVE this car. It's the car I wanted and having driven a 2.0D GT around for a couple of months, there's no way I'd want drive anything else.
-
Glad you've got it back and that it is almost returned to normality.
Try to put the damage to the back of your mind and just enjoy having your pride and joy back again, it's looking good.

The ripped CD's could have finger prints on them, so easy to get onto CD's.
-
You would have thought so! When I went to see the car in the repair garage I asked if I could pick up a personal bits left in the car. The car had been dusted by the police for prints however knowone had even though to check the CD's! We carefully removed them and got them dusted however there were only contact points, no actual prints they could use.

Is the dynaudio system ok, i expected if they had been playing with SD cards and CDs they would have had it up full and maybe damaged a speaker. :undecided:
-
Glad to see you got it back.
I had a Civic Type R stolen last year and I've never heard anything of it.. Although I now have a Golf :D

Good to hear it's back
I'd go for a Tracker or CobraTrak device but this doesn't deter them unfortunately - just means you get it back quicker!
Are the insurance company sorting out all the bits that aren't right?
-
The insurance company will sort out the bits. But I don't want to send the car away just yet!! I'm enjoying it too much! The audio system is workin just fine. However I prefer using the SD card & memory stick on the media in rather than putting my own CD's in the car. The audio system did go loopy the other day. I was going through snake pass though, where planes tend to fall out the sky! Tell me guys is the engine supposed to rev this high? I'm at 3 thousand revs at 80??
-
Good news.
Now it's time to enjoy it.
