Title: Burning Rubber smell...
Post by: xxx4xyz on 20 January 2005, 11:55
Hi All,

Any ideas on this one - When I drive my car say along country lanes quite fast etc... after a while I get a smell of burning rubber from the front nearside (it seems to be from there)  Now its not tyres or wheel related...any ideas on what it could be ??

Mk4 Golf 2003 model.
Cheers.

Puzzled!!

You got a turbo ? Probably just the boost hoses warming up if you don't drive it hard very often. Check you tyres though just incase they're rubbing on something.

Check every pipe possible from  both on top and below the engine (if you can). Something may be trapped too close to the block, dont really know your engine too well so can't be much help i'm afraid !
