Title: Door rattles / Dash rattles
Post by: Rob GTi on 20 January 2005, 09:55
1.8t - 51 plate 3 door. I know we may have covered this subject before, but my drivers door trim rattles, does anyone know of any fixes - acoustic matts/strips etc.  Also rattle from dash, can't seem to find ou twhere this is coming from. Give the dash a bang and it temporararily stops.
Please help ............any ideas/solutions. (apart from turning the stereo up)

Every mk4 i've ever been in has at least one rattle, luckily mine only has one slight rattle very occasionally. (Doors creaking under braking is a different matter)
Only fix i know is to strip everything and bung a load of silicon grease in as you put it all back together :undecided:

Cheers - thought there was not a quick fix answer. Does it depend where the golf was built  - SA / Germany? Sounds as if my car was friday morning car ie partially ok engine wise but trim wise forgot the odd screw etc. Oh well heres to a dry w.end so i can get door panels off.
