Sounds good, looking forward to seeing the pics.

Not a fan, prefer your anthracite Interlagos.
-
I think it looks great! These came on to the options list about 2 weeks after I ordered by bulk standard GTD - in Tornedo Red....due to arrive toward the end of the month... Can't wait
I was close to choosing white myself, but my Dad has a white car (Kia Soul) and didn't want the same colour as him!
Its a company car so haven't been able to find out which model year it is - its build date was w/c 23rd August, so I think its still in the MY10 batch - unless anyone knows anything different?
-
I really like the style of these wheels, I had the original ones on my Mk5 GT.
The polished look complete with the new black shadow inserts makes these wheels look really nice + they stand out better than the old ones.
Evo1986, out of interest whats the cost of these wheels? £450 per wheel I guess at least? I assume there now an option if your ordering a new GTI?
-
They are the 18" option on the GTD.
The GTI olny has the shadows as the 18" option.
-
If I was ordering a new Golf, it'd be just like that. GTD in white with the Charlestons. I loved 'em on the mk5 and still love 'em on the mk6.
In fact maybe next year I'll get a six month old one to replace my GTI.
-
Yummy guess what? hard to please old Gizzy Likes those!!
-
wow VW must really like to replace wheels under warranty.
-
Still prefer the Vancouvers over those, the vancouvers do have 5 out of the 10 legs polished mind.
-
Really? Can't say I've ever noticed. I've polished them many a time and they all look the same to me.
-
Way off topic and why not?
...... The Monza Shadows are unique as they are not spoked like nearly every other wheel out there.
They are de best!
-
Now I've got the monza shadows back on I would agree with you there am1w.
But my quest for the perfect GTI alloy will continue.
-
Really? Can't say I've ever noticed. I've polished them many a time and they all look the same to me.
Yup look harder. The 5 pronounced spokes faces are polished.
-
Every time I see a Candy White GTi or GTD I think that the black side spoilers just don't look right.
Need to be colour coded.

No they don't and they are a brilliant design.
The whole idea to have them a different colour is to make the car look less of a duck in the middle and to give it a perspective of greater length. This is why the 'R' and other Golfs look so odd.

NO NO NO NO NO, I love the side spoilers - one of the best features for me !
-
^^ Agreed - look really good when contrasting with the white or reds.

They don't learn, do they?
Polished faced wheels in the UK...Hmm...They should have learned the lesson back in 1996 with the 20th Anniversary GTI.
But no...

MK6 GTD, Deep black, 5 door, park assist, RCD 510, VW Bluetooth, Monza shadows SOLD!
So did you fit these Monza's or order them?
I wanted Monza's when I ordered mine but they wouldn't do it. You can only have the wheels stated for that model.
-
I work for VW and luckily found a dealer in our group that had taken a set off their mk6 gti and bought them from them. Was happy with the Vancouvers that cost me nothing as an option on my car as were changed off a car because a customer didnt like them and would be very happy with the Charleston shadows, but loved the look of the Monzas Shadows especialy with a black car.

Evo1986, What car have you got now or do you have a new one on order?
-
Makes sense for me at the moment to just use a company demo car, as cant see me being able to drive a car for almost a year and trade out of it and loose nothing again. Especially as we have another GTD demo car coming in a few weeks, White 3 door, charlestons mmmmmmm

Sounds good to me, a nice new car to drive ever few months must be a real chore.....
At what stage do yourselves as a dealer decide to sell the demo car out of interest? Or is a demo car available for sale as soon as you recieve it?
-
The car is for sale straight away but we can't let the car go till it is exactly 3 months old as it is on a demo plan with vw till then, plus if you let it go early you get f**ked over if vw find out.

Why do they replace them under warranty if you curb or scratch them?
-
Hmmmm, I still prefer Vancouvers too.

The best looking diesel wheels out there

Stance looks awfull. It's about time VW started making their more 'sporting' cars sit well. If BMW and Audi can nearly manage it.............

LOL, I've driven Audi's for the last 7 years and they don't have a clue about 'stance' ride height or sports suspension, they think hard and low is the only way to do it.....

They must have some good girls working in the engineering team

I'm quite the fan of dirty flaps.....With all their flap flap flap flapping!

Hi Guys
Sorry if i am draggin up an old post.. I am in the process of buying a brand new GTD. Unfortunately you cannot buy them with the Vancouver alloys anymore and I really want a set.
Any want or know anyone who fancy selling their Vancouver's?
Cheers
Dave

Knobby
Are you buying from a dealer? If so, do what I did... Tell them you want Vancouvers as part of the deal. I waited 4 months for mine but got them with only 5k on them compared to 15k on the Shadows I swapped.
Alternatively, I'd just suggest keeping an eye out on the bay. They do turn up every now and then.
-
Strange how VW package things for different markets. Here in Ireland, the vancouvers are still the (only) option if you want 18's on a GTD. I opted for them on mine and they do look great IMO.

Yes I am buying new from dealer but on a cancelled order so can't change the wheels. I've tried really hard to get a few dealers to help but they say they can't and they are only available from Vw parts.
They really do look great and that's why I want a set. Green with envy! Apparently new only get two options the STD seatle shadows or the charlatan shadows (spelling) looks like the vancouvers are only available on the GT model, i guess they don't want to mix alloys between models to keep then individual.
I'll keep an eye on eBay.
-
I'm fairly certain a GT owner with newish Vancouvers would bite your arm off for the chance to swap to a set of Charleston Shadows.
The Charlesons would almost be enough to sway me into buying a GTD on their own!
-
Doesn't the dealer your buying from have used cars? If so ask him if when a GTD comes in with Vancs on if you can swap them for yours and a few quid? Upon inspection obviously, as long as they're mint then i'd do it.
-
What Jimble just said.
Not only GTD's either. There are loads of GT TDI's with Vancouvers.
-
Dave
A set of 4 brand new ones from a VW dealer are on eBay
Item #: 170670697072
Not the cheapest but you could sell on your shadows for good money and it'd be pennies difference.
