Are all mk2 gti 8v engines the same mines a 1991 and ive found a cheap 1988 engine which i want to rebuild, is it the same?

88 is should be same as 91, flanges may differ but thats it.

earlier injection had slight differences here n there, but nothing that would stop you fitting. main thing is the earlier engines have different injector seats but these can usually be swapped to suit. 88 will be a digifant engine like yours though :)
