Title: no dash lights on mark 1

hi got 83 golf gti and  i have no dash lights  when i put my lights on my mfa switches off abd my rev counter stops workin any suggestions

Check the small earth wire (brn/white?) on the rear of the rocker cover.

If you sort the MFA/Rev counter and still no dash lights, check you are getting 12v at pin 1 of the 14 pin connector that goes to the instrument pod. If you are, then check the bulbs - if these ok then maybe the blue track on the back is knackered?!
