Well i loobed the door rubbers, hatch rubber and there rubber stops with autoglym rubber care 3 times this week tightened the bolts either side of the dash, fitted the anti-rattle stuff on the fuse box lid clip locations like VW have in there dealer info, did the door pillar trim one too they talk about. The centre concel join is wedged and so needs doing. I did the rear seat catches even though i knew it was not a rattle yet. So sorted nearly all my rattles.
BUT theres one from the rear a loud one i hear when hitting small potholes that over powers the radio, I removed the spare wheel and tools, tied up the warning triange thing, the shelf the carpet were removed, folded the seats down and it seems a little louder maybe not but it does seem a tiny little bit, so i wonder do you guys think it maybe the following or have any other ideas what it maybe?
Its gradually got worse and worse over months from a small quiet rattle at the start to now sounds like something loose.
I had mine back to the dealers with a rattle in the boot and they replaced the bumpstops, did stop the rattle but didnt fit them properly and ended taking it to the bodyshop to get them fitted correctly.

Sounds like you need to drive and get a friend to find the fault.

^ thanks it may just be that. I have just been reading posts on the mk5 forum about rear rattles too. So im also going to check that the latch is not loose as it works loose on the mk5's according to one of the thread and causes a rattle that gets louder with time as the bolts unscrew.
