Title: Creaking clutch
Post by: Mr_Orange on 27 August 2010, 17:14
The clutch pedal just started creaking quite loudly...  it's deffo not at the pedal or inside the car so am slightly confused  :undecided:

Sounds like its coming from towards the gearbox and I can even hear it with the engine running.

Creaks around fully pressed position, both pressing pedal down and slowly letting it back up.  Think I can kinda feel it through the clutch pedal too.

Is it perhaps the cylinder at the other end gone noisy or something around the clutch release arm?  :sick:

Might try a drop of lube spray on the slave cylinder, see if that helps.

Done some searches on line, few mentions of using the "wrong" brake fluid?  :huh:

Anyone got any ideas?

When the clutch pedal is about to snap or crap plastic clips etc linked to it give up the ghost.......

Work the rest out lol

Thanks.  It's definitely not inside the cabin.  Is somewhere at the working end.  Will have another look tomoro and update.

When I searched on line, the fluid change thing is the only cause mentioned with this issue.

if it was creaking cos of lack of fluid then it would have went bang a while ago, if its not the clutch arm then id say its the clutch plate springs. best way of telling is to spray the arm and see if it helps

Found this thread;

Describes the conditions exactly.  Mentions that fix but not how you get to them?....

Popped my head under there.  Can just see the slave cylinder under the mess of linkages etc.  what's the best way to get at the pivot points?

Slave cylinder off or gearbox out?  :undecided:
